Featured Works

Female Authors

Emory's yellowback collection contains many works written by women. This exhibit focuses on three female authors: Margaret Wolfe Hungerford, Mary Elizabeth Braddon, and Ouida.

American Authors

Many works by American authors were published as yellowbacks in Britain. They included high fiction, popular novels, and reprints of historical works. The American authors featured on this site include some still widely recognizable names, as well as the author of the first dime novel.

Rare Books

For a mode of publishing as popularly consumed as the yellowback, relatively few have survived. Yellowbacks are generally difficult to find today. Some of Emory's collection, however, is especially rare or priceless.
